The Executive Message That Was Too Technical
The Situation
You need executive approval for engineering investment that will not immediately produce a visible customer feature. You present technical evidence, architecture risks, and operational concerns, but the leadership team remains unconvinced and asks why the work cannot simply be postponed.
My technical background made it natural to explain decisions through implementation detail and engineering logic. Through MIT Sloans Communication and Persuasion in the Digital Age programme, I strengthened my understanding that effective executive communication begins with the audiences priorities, not the speakers expertise.
